| http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2643293450044113659IPFmoA This competion has given a good oppotunity to try very young seedling grafting. I saw a note on the internet said "It was possible to graft Astrophytum seedlings, 2 days after germination." I grafted a 2 days old Ario seedling at 10:00 am yesterday. I am not sure this can take or not. I took a photo this morning. | |

| i think i am up with some stiff competition PLUS i have not had any cacti in my posetion for longer than 5 months except for my golden barrel. so these grafts and this competition are going to teach me something if not just how to be a good looser | |

| I confirmed successfull grafting of a 2 days old seedling yesterday and repotted it into a parmanent pot. I use 50 mm tube for grafting stock propagation but repot to 90 mm deep square pot (Olive pot) after grafted. I perpared a special potting-mix for this plant. Main soil: 75% cactus and succulent potting mix in market, 25% matured chiken pellet manure Top soil: 100% matured chiken pellet manure http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2305086870044113659BSHOPw | |

| Darren I think the sunlight in my greenhouse is softer than yours but the color of your elongatus is also not too bad. I use two layers of 50% green shadecloth. Hanazono | |

| Nice work Darren and Hanazono, both looking good. I'm amazed how fast Hanazono's has grown. I have a few entries but they are struggling because I grafted them to young Hylo stock because that was all I had available. I will post a pic later today. | |

| some closeups of these little babies ... hows the pattern around the base of the smaller plant!!! i think i damaged the growth point of the larger one and that is why it is pupping? they are under lights for 16/24 in standard potting mix which is constantly soaked in nitrosol soluble fertiliser but then left to dry for 1 day in every 7. i have no idea about growing plants so this is all new to me but i am loving it!!! i am pruning my grafting stock everyday | |

| Please have a look the updated photo, taken on 02/02/10. You can see a flower bud starting to appear. The body size is still very small but I think autumn will be soon. 2 of 10 grafted kotschoubeyanus f Rio Verde for the competition have flower buds. http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2708218230044113659nfGaFT | |
