I did a graft last week to see if i could get it to work. Seems to have worked. Just a mamillaria gracilis onto opuntia subulata monstrose so will be good to see how it progresses and eventually i'll try it with more uncommon species.

That looks good. Smile
now place the opuntia in dry mix and it will have roots in no time.

actually i put some cuttings in my heated prop under artificial lights and they rooted in about two weeks and are now growing rampantly at a similar rate to pereskiopsis.

Thanks Lewis that is a shot of one of my SK's and then I used poor photoshop skills to fix it up a bit.

I grafted 1.5 year old Myrio columnare to hylo, and 2 x Onzuka tricostatum to pereskiopsis.
Its pretty cold and I don't use any heating but they should still be ok in my garage.

On more thing. How fast does the scion grow on Subulata monst ? Would it be comparable to other opuntia ? or faster like hylo ?

I have never grafted on subulata before and think its probably worth a shot.

I haven't tried grafting to it yet but i have several growing in a heated prop under artificial lights and they grow very rapidly, almost as fast as the pereskiopsis under identical conditions. i plan to graft to them soon. I'd guess the scion growth would be closer to hylocereus.
