Think it's some sort of fungal thing, started turning brown during our very humid autumn. Hit it with some antifungal spray and it haven't spread since, should really give it a gentle scrub to see if I can remove it.

Thought this was a Notocactus scopa and the flower has confirmed it... Notocactus scopa ssp. rudibuenekeri to be exact.

Ariocarpus retusus scapharostariodes grafted 2 years ago strange to see flowers this time off the year i have a few of these and this is the only one with a flower. They normally flower in autumn.

Photo 1 is a grafted Mammillaria lauii v dasyacantha. I sowed seeds on 31/08/2006 and grafted a young seedling.
Photo 2 is turbinicarpus valdezianus propagated from offsets in 5 cm square tubes.

Maybe not as impressive as that grafted monster, but sanchez-mejoradae is one of my favorite Mamms, and always an early flowerer !
