| I assume that you don't need to be a member of the CSS NSW to gain entry? Hmm pity about the short notice. I would have definitely been keen on getting up there. Don't think I can make it this time. Is this only once yearly? | |

| I just happen to be in sydney this weekend. I will try and get there from about 10am - I don't need the temptation of plant sales from 8am... I will try and get some pics | |

| It was great - I hope someone else got a chance to take pics - I only had a mobile phone camera. (I will upload when I get home in a couple of days) the highlights for me were... *the flowering Mammillaria luethyi which was amazing *the soccerball Ariocarpus sp (quite a few too!) *there was a very impressive Lophophora williamsii which must have been about 35cm across *old and big Pelecyphora * the $2 entry fee there was something for everyone | |

| Were they selling any of the above mentioned cacti or were they just on display. Either way, sounds awesome. Be sure to let us know a bit ahead of time next show Duncan. | |

| there were plant sales outside but all the above were the place getters in the comps. The plants outside looked pretty good - the prices seemed reasonable too. I get the impression people willing to get there early could have bought some special plants. | |

| Hi Sorry about the short notice. The Society holds 2 shows a year. The next one should be in May next year. I have mentioned this great site to the President and the Publicity Officer. Neither had heard of this forum, so I have taken it upon myself to spread the word and perhaps in a future issue of their journal there will be a mention of it. I wlll try to alert everyone well in advance of the next show. The actual show inside the school hall opens to the public at 10a.m. Sellers set up outside the hall anytime from 6.30a.m. with most being set up by 7a.m. Naturally anything rare or unusual is snapped up quickly. In general, prices are quite reasonable in my opinion. My suggestion for what it's worth - get there before 7a.m., buy a few plants then go and have breakfast then return at about 10a.m. to view a great display. I confess that I only collect caudiciform succulents, and know absolutely nothing about cacti, so I am not in a position to know if there were any rare cacti there for sale. You might also consider joining the Society ($30 a year I think). Meetings are held on the 1st Friday of most months in the same location from about 7p.m. Usually plants for sale and a talk as well as mixing with friendly like-minded people. A journal is produced 4 times a year and has some interesting articles. Duncan | |
