| Early in the morning, I changed my greenhouses setting from summer to autumn/winter. I do this in mid March normally but it delayed in this year because high temperature continued to the end of March. Before the change After the change 50% shade cloth covered over the green house was removed. Ariocarpus have been in flower in the greenouse. | |

Do you get much of a reaction from your plants after removing the shade cloth?

| Since I'm still very new to all things cacti, I went out and made sure everyone was still standing upright and looking the same as yesterday..... as I said before, I'm still very new to this | |

Yes I do. Ariocarpus push flowering buds up immediately after removing shade cloth. Cactus will continue to grow until the end of June.
Greenhouses are covered in mid of November. I can recognize immediate growing of seedlings which are 3~4 years old at that time.
I do this way more than 10 years.

| We had good rain in the morning and my rain-water tanks were filled up. I collect rain water from roof of greenhouses and use 100% for cactus. I watered cactus in the afternoon. Some young Ariocarpus retusus v furfuraceus were in flower in the afternoon. Although it is mid of autumn, seedlings still need frequent watering. 2 years and 9 months old A. asterias cv miracle kabuto in 50 mm square tubes 2 years and 9 months old A. retusus v furfuraceus cv Suguri-cauliflower in 50 mm square tubes | |

| I degrafted 6 of Pelecyphoraaselliformis in the afternoon. Aselliformis seedlings are grown as very thin shape if they were kept own-root. If you grafted them, they will be thicker shown as the above. Scions are 2 years old and around 40 mm diameter. Garden-lime was used as drying agent for cutting faces. I will dry them for 2 weeks or so and will insert into dry potting-mix. 1st watering will be around the end of August. | |

| Gave my seedlings their first drink in months. Cleaned up all the leaves in my garden and discovered a gum tree has been dropping sap on my gymno's all winter. DAMN!!! Looks like it washes off OK but the woolly areole's are stained red.

| Re-potted a heap of cacti. Lucky I did as one pot was completely over-run with mushroom mycelium. Re-arranged my cacti into better groupings and attempted a cross pollination with a turbinicarpus and a loph. Highly doubt it will work but worth a try anyway | |

| Transplanted 5 grafted A. retusus cv cauliflower seedlings from temporary pots to permanent pots early in this morning. Since daytime in the greenhouse is too hot and hard to stay long, I do jobs in the morning and evening.
They grafted onto Pereskiopsis stocks on 11th in this month and completed the process in the morning. The temporary pot is 50 mm square tube and the permanent one is 90 mm square x 180 mm depth. So far I grafted 38 seedlings. All of them were taken well. I minimize variable factors on my grafting process and so the result is quite consistent.
I also grafted 5 seedlings newly in the morning.

| This morning I took to my mamm flowers with a paint brush and dipped and mixed, fingers crossed something happens. I rearranged some of my cacti, the smaller and less striking have been moved the lower shelves and those that are pushing out new spines and flowers have been promoted to the top shelves. Moved my seedlings that have been uncovered to a window sill so they begin experiencing conditions closer to outdoors, also moved the lighting around on the seedlings still in baggie so they get stronger light, would like to have them all out by summer except for the blossfeldia they will remain in the baggie for the next year or 2. Moved my pach from the garage to the porch as it is pupping and I want for it to have more light.

| It is the time of asterias seeds harvesting. I took several matured fruits in this morning. The photo is a miracle kabuto with matured fruits. I have not counted but it should be around 300 seeds. | |

| Picked some more fruits today. So far this year has been the biggest seed harvest I have ever had.
Managed a few successful crosses of my gymno damsii rotundum and gymno valniceckianum. I got five fruits in total packed with dust sized seeds.
The "button" fruit harvest has been incredible. 15 fruits a week for the past 2 months.
Five, full to the brim, ariocarpus fruits totaling 150+ seeds.
Countless mamm seeds including several suspected crosses. I am having trouble extracting them from the fruits as they are so tiny and so sticky. I have resorted to using talcum powder on my fingers to stop them from sticking but the seeds end up having a powdery look to them. Not very attractive but it gets the job done.
One astro capricorne v. major cross astro asterias fruit containing 50+ seeds. Though I wont know if it is a genuine cross until I grow them out.
What a great production year!!!
