Time for a new season flowering thread!!

I'll kick it off with this lovely little ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus elephantidens.

When winter has come, spring will be soon.
It is out of cactus flowering season basically but some of autumn flowering ones are in flower.

A Mammillaria sanchez-mejoradae is in flower.

Turbinicarus valdezianus propagated from offsets were in flower.

So excited. Finally one of my Ferocactus is beginning to flower. I like collecting Ferocactus because they are fast growing, tough and dangerous to have around.

The spines on these plants are ridiculous! I remember reading somewhere that the spines give Ferocactus a significant evolutionary advantage in that when the desert floods the spines catch on passing debris. This, coupled with a shallow root system allows them to be uprooted and transported to low points and depressions in the terrain where water is most likely to collect.

This one is Ferocactus macrodiscus multiflorus. Seed grown and approximately 3 seasons old.

Fero flower opened today. Very happy.

A flowering fero! That's excellent.. never seen the flower before. Reminds me of steno, speaking of which mine are flowering now.
Some great results there!

Nice plant maxcactus. They have a very nice blue colour!!

A super kabuto was in flower.
The flower is 10 cm in diameter, an abnormal size.

2 of Mammillaria humbolditii v caespitosas were in flower.
I sowed seeds on 30th September 2004.

The photo is Pelecyphora aselliformis, degrafted and rooted.
Each plant is in 65 mm square pots.
