Australian Cactus Forum now has its very own Facebook

Members,

Australian Cactus Forum now has its very own Facebook page and we need the help of our members to make it flourish. The aim of the page is not to detract from the the forum but supplement it and to provide an avenue for our members to show off their plants in a more public environment. Additionally, we have had issues with the gallery size limits on the forum and the Facebook page will allow us to put up as many photos as we want.

We are currently collecting members content to feature on our Facebook page, sorry but not all content will be published.

Hi everyone

We are still looking for members content to feature on the official Facebook site. If you have any photo's of your plants you would like to share please attach them to an e-mail, addressed to the above mentioned e-mail address.

We are posting photo's of any and all members plants. It doesn't have to be rare, advanced or in flower. If you own it and want to share it then we will oblige to post it up.

I sincerely hope that the forum does not become a desert wasteland (pardon the pun) with the introduction of this Facebook page.
I do not use Facebook and as much as I enjoy this forum will not create a Facebook account to continue using it.

Just to clarify. The facebook page is basically a showcase advertisement to encourage more people to join the forum. It is merely a way to broaden our reach to people who would otherwise not know of our existence.

This is why no one can post content directly to the page. It is to ensure anyone who wants to join in the discussion or contribute will have to join the forum to do so.

There is no need to have a Facebook account to view the page. Nor will there ever be a need to obtain a facebook account to use this forum.
I would strongly recommend having a look at the page by following the link above. This will provide a better understanding of what it is all about.

The page also serves another purpose. This is a way of permanently storing a picture database with identification tags of our members plants. We hope in time this will serve as a sort of simplified identification guide to assist newcomers with I.D. as well as providing a form of vetted contact with the owners of the plants. This will greatly help in the spreading of very specific cultivation and care information on any given species directly from the plant custodians themselves. (only if they wish to, of course)

Unfortunately there is limited storage space on the forum to collect a large database of this kind and would be extremely cost prohibitive to upgrade. This is the best way to diversify the forums "tool kit", access and reach all in one go. For free.

Well done Sneaky, I still can't put a photo up on this forum let alone work out how to set up facebook  on this forum. very smart!! 

Yes this has been fairly successful thus far. If you would like some photos posted JK send an email with the photo to the above email. I know you have some great plants to share.
