Grafting Stock

I have a mamm leuthyi which was grafted. The mamm has gone brown and hard and I think it's dead . What I would like to know is what do you do with the stock it was grafted onto? Is it good for anything or is it a bin job as well?

To answer your question. Yes generally the stock should still be good and will throw out offsets that can be grated onto once again. What is the stock plant ?


Don't be disheartened Leuthyi are difficult in cultivation even when grated. I lost a few and so did Hanazono from memory.

I normally do grafting stocks :
Using again stocks or offsets when I failed simply grfating.
Throwing stocks into bin when the grafting was sucessfully completed but the scion died later because grafting stocks may be infected virus also.

Spach is ultra hardy and you no doubt will be able to use it again. Wait for it to pup and graft a new scion on to the growing tip

Thanks for the info everyone, looks like it may not be a total loss then, because the stock looks to be healthy.
