| Strange time to be flowering! Strange colour too. I have some others flowering now but the colours are normal. This one started with normal flowers but the last few have all been pink! Still I ain't complaining.

| That's an old pereskiopsis stock. The graft is gradually being rejected and you may be able to just make out a root growing from the remains of the tap root at the base. | |

| Wow, that's certainly pretty different, if not outright unique! A very cool plant with a very cool flower. | |

| Haha, that's awesome!!
Do you think the weather has something to do with the colour?
Could the fact that the scion is being rejected be the reason why it's flowering now?

| The first couple of pink flowers were back when the weather was warmer. The rejection of the graft could be the cause but I have others in same situation that are not doing that. Why is it flowering now, good questiion. Maybe its habitat is warmer and it grows off stored reserves in its taproot during its cool season. | |

| My caput-medusaes are also in flower, two plants and one flower each. One is yellow color and the other one is orange. These plants are grafted. The climate in my place is warm enough to grow root stock in winter and I do watering through the year. This is 1st time I grow caput-medusae and I am not sure the exact flowering season of the plant. Hanazono | |

| Here in Italy caput-medusae are in flower during all the summer and at beginning of autumn, during winter we keep 8°C as minimum and they do not flower. But the fruits pollinated at the end of the summer do not give good seeds compared to those harvested during summer. The cold weather isn't able to give complete maturation. | |

| A very healthy brood of caput-m seedlings you have there C & D. Has this plant become well-established in the cactus hobby in Italy? | |

Has this plant become well-established in the cactus hobby in Italy? Thanks Lewis! Caput-medusae is appreciated from astro lovers but not only. Many collectors have one or few grafted plants. Some collectors and nurserymen produce seeds from them and have young seedlings. Our seedlings are from our first grafted plants (we got them some years ago) and they were sowed in 2007. Some of them have already produced some seeds.
