They look like Strombocatcus disciformis to me?

Also, I agree with KanJe, those young plants look great, really healthy.

PostSubject: Appearance of grafted cacti   Obregonia denegrii.. - Page 2 EmptyMon Apr 06, 2009 8:09 pm

KanJe
The appearance of grafted cacti depends upon the root stock.
Hylocereus undatus and Myrtilocactus geometrizance will give a similar appearance to own-root plant.
Harrisia jusbertii and bonplandii will give stronger spines and woollier appearance than own root one.
When you grafted a super kabut onto a jusbertii, it looked very nice and special but it would return a normal one when you degrafted and rooted.
Trichcereus spachianus has an opposit character of jusbertii.

nice photo's But im wondering what growing medium your using with those tubs. Id love to achieve plants that size in 4 years but I also find them to be really slow growing. Mayhaps it's conditions. How often are your applying fert/type?

Sorry forgot to put names, they are like old friends to me.
O. denegrii
A.trigonis, A.agavoides, Akotschoubeyanus v. Rio verde
Strombocactus disciformis
Pelecyphora asselliformis, This one starts out quick enough but has slowed down. I think it may be due to tiny mites that are almost impossible to see without magnification. Anyone else have these.

dear Hanazono
just a question , wen you explain that harissia give some boost to sk you means that the patterns and the spot of sk are henanced by this rootstook?
i have buyed a plants from japan, an hanazono that are realy wooly and with a lots of extra areole but the new grown are not so withe, but this plant have a smal part of the jusberti on it so the problem are not the rootstook but the normal grown of this hanazono? hope for a your helph

G'morning Emanuele
It is called "daituki-oroshi"and the plant is still grfted condition on the jusbertii even it is very short.
I do not know who supplied the plant but I think the supplier try to maitain the appearance of the plant as"good".
When you graft a super kabut and a hanazono kabuto on jusbertii, they look very nice, "wooly".
I also have several daituki-oroshi hanazono kabutos made by myself and they are very wooly but not white.

Emanuele
Both of plants are hanazono kabuto.
Bottom one is nornal hanazono kabuto and top one is crossed with another kabuto in history I think.
Flower buds of Hanazono kabuto should come out from pseudo aleores also as shown in the bottom photo.
Since a hanazono kabuto opens multiple floweres together including buds coming from pseudo aleores, it is called hanazono, meaning "flower garden". Please check flower buds are coming from pseudo aleores or not on top one.
Hanazono kabuto is a small plant. It will be around 10 cm diameter in muture. Many people have tried to make a large hanazono and crossed other large forms e.g.Kaies or miracle which will grow around 20 cm diameter.

I did repotting two denegriis in this afternoon.
These plants were degrafted and introduced in this forum on 22/05/09 during rooting process.
The attached photo is one of them.
I could see some short roots but it had not developped tap-root yet.

I think roots started to grow around one month after setting.
The attached photo is 4 months later after setting.
