| I have been searching for this stuff. The Holy Grail of pest control For those who don't know what it is: http://www.planetnatural.com/site/gnatrol.html I would love to buy that bottle, but I really only want to get it from Australia. Haven't been able to find it on the net or in garden centres etc. it must be around. Anyone ever come across it? | |

| I don't recall seeing Gnatrol specifically, but your link mentions that the active ingredient is Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis. From my memory, Bacillus thuringiensis is the active agent in mozzie dunks, you know, those little tablets used to control mosquito larvae in tub gardens such as those used for growing lotus or water lillies. I'm not sure how specific the agent is, however it may be possible that those tablets could also be employed in some form against the dreaded fungus gnats. | |

| Thanks Lachy will check that out. It might be just what I need as my fungus gnat problem is very minor, but I would like to put an end to them. Might be cheaper and easier to find that a big bottle of gnatrol. Where do you get those 'mozzie dunks'? Cheers. | |

| I reckon Bunnings sells them, and I'd imagine that most places that sell water garden "stuff" would also carry them. | |

| There is a yates product called DIPEL®for killing caterpillars and other insects in the soil. It has the same active bacteria as Gnatrol and can be obtained easily. I have never used it personally and i'm not sure i would even work for Fungus gnats but here is the link.

Someone please post back here if you have sucess. EDIT: also see http://www.greenharvest.com.au/pestcontrol/caterpillar_prod.html#PB03E | |

| Trigonus, Mate I believe it is an Astrophytum Myriostigma v Nudum "Kikko". Sadly it isn't mine, I love it and have offered the owner a pretty penny for it with no luck. If it was mine I wouldn't let it go either. | |

| It's pretty amazing. Those Japanese cultivars & hybrids are great. Wonder if the owner will ever have seed though? | |

| He passed on to me 10 seeds all of which failed to germinate. 5 were soaked in a solution of Gibberellic Acid (GA3) but still no luck. I was told they were the original seed this plant was grown from so I guess they were pretty old | |

| Astrophytum Myriostigma v Nudum "Kikko". They are a beautiful looking plant. he he - I'm NOT going to gloat... I've got 12 seeds and have just put 2 down to see - I will keep the rest until spring, but I have a nice little warm spot on my window ledge inside that I have used to just germinate some TEXAS astro's. Wish me luck with the two KIKKO's | |
