| Cheers. Hey I have noticed the oldest head (the wooly one) on the C. hypo looks like it might be cresting or is that just normal growth? Anyone know? Not that experienced with the species or even the genus. | |

| An impressive collection you have there WT. Lots of Astros, good to see. Always nice to see a well stocked greenhouse. Looks like you are gonna need a larger property soon to house all your cacti | |

Always nice to see a well stocked greenhouse. Looks like you are gonna need a larger property soon to house all your cacti I would love to move somewhere with more garden space. I would build a bigger greenhouse too. You see now why I wanted to get rid of the succulents! I think as my collection grows I will have to be more specific about what I collect and only buy special plants

| Awesome! Lots of healthy cacti and quite neat and well-organised from my perspective...
I want, I want, I want a greenhouse!
Very impressive collection. Imagine what it's going to look like in 5, 10, 15, 20 years.
Are they Hoodias in the foreground of the second shot?

Sorry to laugh mate but if you think its that easy to get over the illness then good luck The purchase of uneccesary plants being one of the major symptoms. They have put me on the cactus patch already, but am still buying too many cacti even when I have cut down. As Jim Carrey said in the Mask "Somebody stop me!"

| I have to agree with everyone else - try stopping yourself from getting that unsual cactus coz ya not gunna get anymore. Believe me I have tried it and it doesn't work. I thought I would 'specialise' and stick with one species, then I saw some interesting gymno's and steno's and the thoughts went 'oh a few more won't hurt' | |

That’s my screened red granite - I wash and sieve buckets of granite that I get for $5 for two. I get three sizes from course granite sand - a small 7mm size and a larger 10mm size - I really like it - and the price is good too. & to the others - I'll post again this time next year. I'll have about 13 really nice plants... and plenty of room in the greenhouse. You'll see...

I was thinking the same thing - where my wife walks the dogs I've noticed some big ants nests - I haven't collected any yet but it does look good. Also there is a massive hedge of Opuntia which I'm experimenting with - so far I have a success rate of 2/3 grafting with astrophytum. I have recently done some more that have yet to show success/failure.

| Hi lewis, the Hakuun is grafted onto a Hylocereus which was really badly sunburnt. two of the three sides of the Hylocereus have died but the third seems to be doing ok. this happened about 6 months ago or thereabouts. The Hakuun seems to be ok at the moment. I have another Hakuun which was degrafted - I left a small part attached and its pupping like mad. unfortunatly I didn't grow these from seed- they were all purchased. ) | |

| ah okay. looked like rot from where i am sitting. keep an eye on it, if it is just sunburn it will, probably, recover, if not either re- or degraft. with the degrafted one did it root readily? and what is the loph graft next to the hakuun?? looks quite healthy. p.s am i blind or do i notice an apparent lack of Gymnos in your collection? not to worry i will have to post heaps of flower pics in summer to convert you + HN to the dark side. | |

Not that experienced with the species or even the genus. Trig I don't think it will crest. This look is due to the crowding. I have seen this in several of my plants and they don't usually crest. But it is possible.
