Thelocactus setispinus aka Ferocactus setispinus.

According to 'The Complete Encyclopedia of Cacti' by Rudolf Subik & Libor Kunte, the pollen of this species can be used to induce self-pollination of other unrelated cacti. Though, I'd argue you can do this with almost anything. i believe it can also be crossed with Astrophytum asterias, as you see the flower is very similar.

Thanks lewis.That's what I thought it was. I also have that book and thought that was an interesting fact about the pollen and pollination inducing properties. I have tried it on a few things without any noticeable effect. Just tried it on a SUPERKABUTO. Will post any results.

Isn't another synonym Hamatocactus?

my tries with Thelocactus setispinus ad astrophytum and lophophora have so far given me nothing Sad any links or sources of info on crosses and Thelocactus setispinus, or even Thelocactus sp.?
