| My main collection is Astrophytum. It is quite warm today in SA and Astrophytums are in bloom. The following photos are some of my collections. asterias seedlings, 4~5 years old asterias cv kabuto, I think it is mixed a bit of miracle kabuto's gene. senile x super kabuto, created by muself, I intoduced this plant once in the "Hybrid". myriostigma cv Onzuka | |

| As always, your cacti are stunning Was wondering, do you have a technique for encouraging flowering in your Astros? I have a few, some of flowering size but sadly only one flowered last season. I guess good strong light and some decent periods of sun are ideal, do you have a feeding schedule that encourages flower formation? I was hoping to get alot of mine flowering this season and trying to cross a few to make some interesting hybrids. Thanks. trigonus | |

| Trigonus I stop watering in the beginning of July and restart in the end of August. This may give a good flowering, I think. A strong sun light may be good for flowering but it is not good for growing. I keep my cactus under soft sunlight condition. Hanazono | |

| Koda I do not know other places in Australia but there are two main flowering seasons in my place. October and March/April are main flowring seasons but Astrophytum will be in flower through September to May. I normally remove all buds on seedlings, less than 8 cm daimeter plant. The photo on top shows seedlings with flowers. I kept buds for taking the photo. Hanazono | |
