Some sort of Opuntia I guess. Spineless and the older pads are completely cylindrical and thick for their length.

Possibly a rare or uncommon species, and much potential for grafting.

Yeah look like it should be a good stock. All opuntias can show that cylindrical growth, it is usually due to environmental conditions. You may find will revert to the big pads you are used to seeing once you plant them in your garden.

Yes i would think that they would, once potted up would grow into the flat padded type.

looks like Nopalea nuda (now Opuntia) judging by the long style in the flower. supposedly quite rare in cultivation, so worth growing on its own merits. the pads are still flattened in this species, but longer than most. if potted up they will most likely flatten out and become more typical
