What Fertilizer to use?

Looking for a fertiliser for cactus and succulents.

I have been researching what is the best ratio N:P:K to use. From what i have found it is recommended to use something with a low Nitrogen level and equal parts phosphorus (P) to potassium (K). Something like a 2:7:7 ratio.

What does everyone use? and at what strength?

I use tomato fertilizer at around half strength.
Just one dose in spring.
For fast growers like tricho i mix in osmocote (one for flowers) at recommended rate.
The soil mix i use for most my cacti has very low organic compunds maybe 15% so there is very little nutrients the cacti can draw.

Hi, i use a product called chempak cactus and succulent fertilizer, seems to do the job. I havent been able to find it in aus but you can buy it off ebay from the uk.

Sounds interesting Mcactus. I have never fertilised my plants as I usually opt for a re-pot but now my collection has grown to large to do this. I may have to look into fertilising.

I never fertilized until last year and personally the effects were quite noticeable, my whole collection took a massive hit of mealybug over the winter and yesterday i dosed them with chempak to wake them up i suppose, before i go for the confidor. Pumped up a couple over night basically.

I use organic fertilizer, pellet chicken manure.

Pellet manure is kept in a plastic box for 2 years before using.
I water over pellets in summer and a sort of fermentation is occurred.

2~3 pellets are set on lower part of pot for normal cacti.
Pellets are used as top dressing for grafted cacti.
