| Last week, I did 8 grafts, +1 yr old seedlings of Yavia Cryptocarpa. The grafts are all looking good, and I will post photos as they go along. Here's one of them 1 week: Doesn't look like much now, but it's a pretty good one for a collection. | |

| Hmmm no idea why the photo has an error in it. I'll fix it later! | |

| Nice, it is growing quite tall which they tend to do when grafted. Be sure to keep the red mites at bay they love this plant | |

| I wish I could find a way to get rid of the red spider mites on all my plants and keep them gone. | |

| A product called O-mite works incredibly well for red mite. However it can be difficult to source, try agricultural supply stores or search the net.

Thank being said I find good dusting of sulphur and copper powder, usually prevents any issues. | |

| Thanks, Neuman, I can look for both of those. As far as the sulphur & copper powder, can they be used to completely eradicate the mites from an indoor garden? I'm hoping that I can get rid of them once, and by not bringing anything new into the cube, that I won't have any future problems with them. The cube is set up so that I can seal it off from everything else, I am just waiting for some of the filtration equipment. I may have to take everything out, once it's all set up, and take every plant out of it's pot, completely clean them down, and then repot in the cube in sterilized soil. | |

| Update - As you can see the Yavia is growing very well, though I am betting it's a bit bigger than it's siblings which are now being grown in a glasshouse subject to normal weather conditions. | |

| The Yavia is continuing to grow at a steady pace. I am wondering though, about possibly cutting it in half, and re-grafting the top half, onto another Pereskiopsis, while letting the bottom half (still on the graft) pup. What do you all think? I'm interested to hear your opinions in this. | |

| Just a quick update on my Yavia grafts. I have a number of these growing now, and have a good photo of the original graft pictured earlier in this post. The largest of the grafts is now +5 cm wide and has around 25 heads. I am working on propagating this extremely rare cacti, and have made some of them available to top growers around the country. | |

| Well done, that's coming on nicely. Unfortunately they tend to bloat or split a bit on grafts, so keep a close eye on them ! Getting flowers and setting seed is said to be difficult also, some clones appear unwilling to flower or set viable seed. There's a couple of good threads on the British forum about their attempts. I have a few youngsters on their own roots and they're starting to come on nicely now they have a few years on them. | |

| Time for an update (Long overdue really). Yavia cryptocarpa that I have grafted have flowered. Unfortunately none at the same time. I have photos but cannot find the one of the flowers at the moment, so you will instead get a picture of the biggest clump, which is about 11cm across. | |

| I have 4 genetic lines of the Yavia that I am cloning. It shouldn't be too long until I have some available. It's a really interesting cacti. | |

| I made this pictures for you now in the greenhouse. Here you can see a grafted plant of yavia. I had over 10 grafted big plants of yavia, but I sell all plants a few month ago, because I don`t like grafted plants of yavia, because the plants don`t look normal, like the nature. So I made seeds and grow plants from seed. But this own root plants grow very, very slowly... 5 year old plant, grown from seed...haha: | |
