I have been trying to germinate seed with mixed sucess, with my method i have the bag tight over the top so condensation drips down back onto the seeds. If that bad? Its probably whats been giving me problems

Could be your problems........ or if the soil was too wet to start with especially if fungi is growing.

Get the zip lock bags and put the whole pot in them. You can get fairly large one now if needed. Just get the el-cheapo black and gold ones.

Sounds like the seeds were the problem then.

Mesa Gardens has a good reputation for seeds as does Kohres. I have my first lot from MG now and have found Kohres to be good.

I have given up on the Aussie guy could not get any lithops to germinate and cacti were terrible. That was a few years ago though

Alternately you can just buy them plastic containers used to store food with the re-sealable lid. Drill holes in the bottom half fill with you fav cacti mix and sprinkle seeds then seal the lid. Now every day or two just carefully open the lid and dry the top. This stops the condensation falling onto the seed and thus promoting rot and also allows some air flow which will reduce bacteria building up.

I have sed this method may many times and it works.

Gracie please refrain from "hijacking" someone elses thread. If you want to speak with parrotsheaven feel free to do so just make a new thread in the correct forum.
