| Yes, they are astrophytum! The first one is a fukuryu, the second one a kikko koh-yo and the third one is from asterias cv. snow seeds. They are still quite little, we will see how they will develop in the future. carlo & daniele | |

| Yes, keep us updated as to their development. A slightly OT Q for Aus growers, is it spathulata or velutina we use here for grafting? going by net photos they appear to be the same plant ...? except spathulata is listed as having a red flowers and velutina (now referrable to deguetii) as yellow (unless they vary), but the stuff we have here rarely (if ever-) flowers (unless someone can prove otherwise, i have not seen it flower here),it could be that we might be mis-identifying our stock, unless in fact there is more that one species available, as i have seen one type with long white wool from the areoles- or possibly there are different clones of the same species in cultivation whatever that species is. Added to the fact is that they vary enormously depending on growing conditions. there appears to have been very little study into this genus and there is seemingly little info available about it on the net (other than grafting info!). Also apparently in Europe people use other species like porteri and even some Pereskia. | |

| They're looking good. I'm yet to get any fukuryu or kikko varieties but but this kind of work makes me want to get my hands onto them.
I agree with HN, I think the ornatum x fukuryu will look awesome once it's bigger. | |

| Hello and thanks. These are the graftings we have at home, under artificial lights, the kohyo at high temperature turn back to green colour, but the seedlings that are in the greenhouse are always very colourful, we will see their change in the next month with spring and summer. carlo & daniele | |

| Carlo & Daniele Although ornatum x fukuryu has been quite small, it has already shown the characteristic of fukuryu-banjyaku. I think it will be a very good plant soon. The grafting stock seems "not pereskiopsis". What is it? Hanazono | |

| Yes, we think plants that show the charaterics very early are the better even if they are grafted and charact are enhanced. The grafting stock is selenicerus and seems to be better than pereskiopsis because it gives to the seedlings a more "natural" growth. carlo & daniele | |

| All very nice Yeah I agree regarding the selenicereus. I'm not exactly sure of the sub species i'm using but it's pretty good. The scions show the same vigor as those grafted on pereskiopsis and appear more natural. | |
