Some loph grafts

Here are a couple of my loph grafts, both to trichs and peres...

In the midst of doing a heap more, as new growth from these ones will provide fodder for the next lot... I've also got a heap of seedlings i am about to graft... i think 3 of the 4 ario fissuratus that i just grafted have taken, and the trichs and lophs i did all seem to be ok Bring on the next month or so...

Not sure what caused the scabby looking areas on the lphs, they just went dormant, and scaled up, no bugs or anything i could see on them, but once the warmer weather came on, they started pupping like crazy, and growing the main head again...

Sweet as.... be interesting to see how these all develop over the next growing year. keep me posted.

I'll update this as i go along... at the moment, i am still trying to get my stocks up... have plenty of peres, which will be used for the seeds i have coming up, but the bigger stocks (pachs, blue myrtle, spachs) i'm either still getting rooted or growing in the garden...

By the end of the growing season, should have a bit of a collection of these

They are looking really good Gilligan. I think it's obvious that you have a bit of skill there.

Thanks I like doing it, it's a challenge, and it definitely speeds up the size of the collection...

Ummm.. my first graft was about a 18 months ago, was a loph to pach. only just took, as i hadn't read about humidity requirements at that stage... most of it died off, but there was a tiny bit left on it, which pupped... PD actually has that one, i traded him for something a while back... I was able to get a heap of small pups from it before it was traded, and there were still 8 or so pups if i recall on it back then... (How's that one going PD?)

After that i got some seeds and tried with peres, these all took as well. The only thing holding me back was my stocks (pere and pach), or lack thereof at the time... '

I've been lucky, probably 80% of total grafts completed have taken and grow...

I actually just did another 10 loph grafts today, they're in the humidity chamber, and i just took out 3 lots of grafts into real life this morning - 4 loph pere grafts, 2 loph/2 trich bridge to pere, and one loph 1 ario fiss to hylocereus grafts. I've still got another 3 ario fiss to pere grafts in the humidity chamber, probably bring those out tomorrow

The 10 loph grafts took, the ario to hylo took (loph didn't make it) and 2 of the 3 ario to peres took...

A note here - the hylo graft looks like it is growing a lot quicker than the peres, interesting.... we will see after a couple more months, seeing as this is growing weather...

Congrafts on your grafting. Post a few pics for us ?

I have found recently, Arios and Astrophytum all appear to grow faster (under my condtions) grafted to hylo. However, if I greatly increase the humidity (Not allways a good idea) the Pereskiopsis grafts will really take off.

I also find is much easier to get a good "bond" between scion and stock with Hylo.

I will update these in about a month or so, once i get some growth on them... these are outside from the start - the first batches i tried were under fluoros, so it wil be interesting to see the difference...

that's just a few in the collection, i took about 15 new graft the other week, got about 20 more to do shortly.

Then it's onto the next lot of pere grafts... hopefully arios and lophs.
