| Hi all, here are a few pictures of some of my seedlings, they are germinated on a heat mat under fluorescent lights. Then grown under fluoros with no heat mat, things going well so far. next spring I will be trying to germinate some seeds in the greenhouse, after seeing Hanazono's wetboxes which seem like great little things!! M. Geo Sowed 04/03/15 Some random Mammilliria, I got the seeds from some pods on an old plant gifted to me. Only 1-2 weeks old Copiaoa hypogoa sowed 05/03/15 Loph from seed from my own plant, not sure on specific species. 05/03/15 L.W. Texana From Koehres 05/03/15 Will try to keep thigns updated, Looking to buy a few more lights so I can expand my setup. Cheers | |

| Hey mate, The substrate is 2/3 Turface which is a calcined clay type product, and 1/3rd osmocote seedling mix. Cheers for the replies all! Just layed some astrophytum caput medusa seeds down, I am very excited Aswell as some mixed japanese/thai astro cultivar seeds. Will hopefully have some funky seedlings to post in the future. Cheers | |

Well a lot of the seedlings look to be variagted im pretty excited!! [url=https://servimg.com/view/19153494/16 [/url] I also sowed a few A asterias and A. myro Japan + thai mixed varieties. great germ rate as well Hopefully in a few years I have some funky looking astrophytums

| Hey all, A second A. Caput Medusa has sprouted, it is looking rather yellow compared to the other seedling, possible varigate? I don't think i am this lucky haha only time will tell. In other news I grafted about 40 lophs to peres. here are some pictures sort of demonstrating how I do it I have been doing the initial grafting underneath lights inside, although I have recently been moving a lot of the grafts outside in my greenhouse. I have seen subtle new growth off of them, although I am not expecting much over winter, I just hope they do not die. I am doing this to make space, in my indoor propagation area for future grafting of plenty hopefully variagated astros. The grafts going outside are put into milkcrates with shadecloth ontop, in the un heated greenhouse with 50% shadecloth. And up close of an ario graft, germinated and grafted indoors, moved outside in autumn. I hope the red colour goes away in the spring, any comments for that? Cheers | |

| The color of grafted Ariocarpus seedling on your photo is quite normal, I think. Since it is in autumn, the scion is just slowdown the growing speed.
After a scion was grafted, it is a part of the stock. You can not control the scion. You have to set the environment to meet the stock and just keeping the condition of the stock well.
When the scion started to grow vigorously, the color will turn to green.

| Thank you for the comments. I really appreciate them! The 40 loph grafts have taken 3 days on, and have been moved outside into milk crates in the greenhouse. Here is a double ario graft, why waste a pere shoot? lol Also, some of the grafts that were done inside, are in my second greenhouse, again under 2 50% shadecloths, one external one internal. I also grafted some of the new astrophytum Nishiki seedlings, onto pere and hylocereus. I also tried to graft 2 seedlings onto young trichocereus seedling (more of an experiment than anything else) These will be left to grow under lgihts over winter inside, and moved out in the early spring time.
