Opuntias are the single genus I am thinking of expelling from my collection. And yeah, some fucken spines might break in the glove. not good... Similarly glochids might stick to the outside surface of the glove [not all gloves] and when you take it off with the other naked hand you get spined!

Opuntia was the last cactus that attacked me, I went to the hospital but she only got half the spine out, I still have an odd shaped lump on my finger waiting to come out Moving house with cacti... a mini-blog - Page 2 Icon_sad

Well, it's now six months on... and the garden is growing well. The succulents are going bananas, the columnar trichs are growing up and up, and the clumping Echinopsis are getting fluffy little buds all over them. Here's a pic:

So far, I've seen that most of the plants are pretty hardy. A couple of the trichs have sustained a little snail damage, as have a few of the clumpers. Nothing has rotted, and the succulents have gone ballistic. I'm pleased to see the buds on the smaller echinopsis although there is no sign on any of the trichs of buds forming yet.

Nice looking little garden Lach. What is the graft at the front left of picture, the clumping one with heaps of heads looks like its on Hylo.

I noticed yesterday afternoon the tricho buds have started at my place Smile there are also some buds on a tricho x echinopsis hybrid.

HN, that is a grafted Rebutia heliosa. It grows profusely on Hylo, so much so that I'm trimming offsets and growing them on their own roots... it's kind of a "stock plant" for my propagation madness:

I'm even getting flowers on the little babies after a season:

There's nothing rare or spectacular here... just some pretty colours:

Hmm... well that red Rebutia has opened up a bit more:

A Mamm "Uno pico" (or whatever they're calling it now) was showing off:

And finally, a patch of Buxus (Oh, I'm sorry "BOXOZ" (tm) Laughing) is looking in need of replacement by something a little more succulent...

More to come.
