Well, the Mornington market strikes again...

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a handful of plants including these three Opuntias. Now, I'm fairly sure that #3 is Opuntia subulata monstrose... and if anyone could confirm this, that would be handy as I'm eager to try using it as a novel grafting stock as documented in this thread. However, numbers 1 and 2 are a bit of a mystery to me. I'll be honest, beyond IDing microdasys and getting speared by tunicata, I'm pretty useless at Opuntias. Laughing

Here we go...

#1

#2

#3
A trio of market Opuntiads... Marketopuntia3

Thanks again.

Hmm Opuntia can be tricky...their form varies greatly depending on environment.

1. I dunno but it's the same as one of mine Smile labeled Prickly Pear.

2. Opuntia Compressa ??

3. Definetly Opuntia Subulata Monstrose

I highly recommend grafting something onto that Opuntia Subulata, I'm looking forward to experimenting with mine too. Laughing

I think you got some good finds there Lachy...

The one in the first pic is "Chenille Prickly Pear" or Opuntia aciculata.

Nice trio.
