| First time I have ever joined a forum - at the advanced age of 60! I'm especially interested in Echinopsis and Trichocereus flowering hybrids, and have some coming along from seed. Maybe I'll live long enough to see flowers I used to have some old hybrids like Stars and Stripes and would love to find them again. Any ideas? Emails to various e-bay sellers, nurseries and even the NSW, SA and Victorian cactus associations have drawn a blank. I am happy to pay or swap. (Have a small collection of Mammillarias, Notocactus, dwarf Opuntias, and basically anything that catches my fancy - especially hairy or blue. And some seedlings of a few species.) | |

| Hi Cactusjane!
Welcome to the forum! I also am a fan of trichocereus cacti. I will have a number of young plants to give away when the growing season starts up again so keep an eye on the trading thread. | |

| Cactujane, Considering you are a fan of Trichocereus, I would highly recommend getting a copy of the book below. With a bit of googling its possible to find a free online version but if your anything like me nothing beats a hard copy. I bought my copy from Amazon. Its a very interesting read and provides many useful tools to aid in identification. Trouts Notes on San Pedro and related Trichocereus species. | |

| Thanks Sneakiest Cephalod! I looked at this book as a download - it certainly reflects an extraordinary amount of work and dedication. However with a tiny backyard (suburban Sydney...) all my cacti are in pots. So the Trich I am interested in are the smaller purely decorative ones rather than the big sacred ones. I love the spectacularly coloured flowering Echinopsis and Echinopsis-trich hybrids (Trichonopsis?) Mattslandscape is my favourite eye candy....I do have Trich schickendantzii and hope Sydney winters are cold enough to get flowers. Would love to find Trich purpureopilosus in its purple flowering form too. | |
