Greetings folks!

Just thought I would share my new additions to my cactus collection.
I went to pick up the one on the left and ended up buying the one on the right as well.

euphorbia horrida/inopla
(just going by the pinkish colour on the spine "new growth")

tephrocactus articulata. i could be wrong will look into it further but if you do some searching yo self you will determine exactly with tephro it is. its definantly tephro. im 99% its articulata.

99.9% but ive been wrong on many occasions.

ps all your photos require me to dislocate my head and hold it at a right angle to veiw correctly.

can you please stand up straight when you take photos. lol.

1 more thing. if you remove the cacti. and take that photo again... you will have created real propper funky illusional art.

make sure u stand same place camera angled the same.

that is an amazing illusion. looks like the mesh is tile grout and the tiles are brick colour till you really focus.
if you take the pic post it here, i recon it rocks hard.

The Euphorbia might be E. ferox but I'm not sure.

Looks like a variation of euphorbia enopla. the other one is definitely tephrocactus. probably articulatus but won't know what form until it flowers

Had a feeling it was a variation, the thorns are more pink than red.
The teprocactus is a cool looking plant, was wrapped when I bought it.

Not sure why my photos come up wonky, will have to flip them.
They appear as right side up on the ipad.

Is it the wrong time of year to repot?
3 of my new plants are in straight potting mix and I'm worried with winter coming they'll get drowned.
The plants are in a sheltered spot but there's a chance they may get rained on a bit.

Never to late to re-pot. If you only have normal potting mix just add a couple of handfuls of course sand and a dash of gypsum.

Is gypsum suitable for all cacti?
Haven't seen that listed on any of the cacti mixes I've come across?

I have put it in all of my cactus soil with no negative outcomes. Just don't over do it. My mix is usually a standard red soil or cactus mix with added sand, gypsum, lime and blood 'n' bone.

Nice addition Walker87, I have one a little larger but otherwise looks the same that was labelled as Tephrocactus articulatus v. papyracanthus.  Seems to grow well down here but once it gets two or 3 segments high its *very* easy for them to fall off.  I've not seen any flowers, so would be interested to see a photo should it do so.

Nice newbies Walker87,

I have the same Euphorbia, i bought it as Ferox, only reason for getting it was for the great spines on it!!

Nice Tephrocactus articulatus, yes they are VERY touchy!!! i have posted a few recently, BUT i have said before i send that they will dislodge at the slightest bump, hence the treatment of Aus Post sometimes.

Judging by this photo i found not long!!
Seem's to be something sus is going on if it can flower with only 1 segment!!!
I have had mine for years and some are about 5-8 segments high, still not a flower.

Articulatis fall apart at the drop of a hat, or when they're stressed, so I'm guessing that last one is the top segment and bud that's come off a larger plant and continued to flower. They are notoriously hard to flower for most growers, myself included !!
