WTB - Lophophora williamsii seeds

Looking for lophophora seeds.
Must be from australia, seems far too complicated importing and possibly illegal too from what I can gather.

Check out ebay seller: 2561953. Odd name I know, but he sometimes has huge quantities for sale. A friend of a friends, uncles, cousin bought several thousand last year and had well over 60% germination. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I found a guy in qld selling little baby ones for 9 a piece but I like the idea of growing from seed more.

Yeah its definitely a rewarding venture. Once you reach a critical point of mature flowering plants they seem to produce seeds faster then you can plant them.

That's interesting to hear that they're prolific seeders, I have been looking for seeds for months and assumed the scarcity was because they did not produce much seed.

They certainly are. Manipulating day light hours will also trigger flowering events. In my experience that does not always result in fruit set even when multiple plants are openly cross pollinated.

I think the abundance issue has more to do with the legal status and sacred nature of this plant. Most people would prefer to keep their own seed to increase their collections as plants and seeds are ridiculously expensive to buy, comparatively speaking. Obviously, the over pricing and 'rarity' stigma attached to these plants are a direct result of its legal status and well documented characteristics. Of which I might warn, are thankfully not permitted to be discussed on this forum. (keeps the disingenuous at bay)

Yes that would make sense then.
I know from reading the forums there had been some backlash from discussing certain characteristics of plants, to which I have no interest in. However I will say I am completely opposed to banning certain plants because of possible misuse.
Hops is a major component of beer, maybe they should ban that too! *jokes*

I find the history of lophs utterly fascinating and their slow growing nature makes them an interesting and rewarding long term endeavour. I also think they're an amazing looking plant which is why I want a couple in my collection.

I agree. If you keep up to date on the forum I'm sure some will come up for sale as they do every now and then. If your eager to add some to your collection straight away you can try ebay searching "button cactus". There is some massive grafted plants up for grabs but they will probably go for a bit.

I've seen some go for a pretty penny but as I am only jusy beginning my cactus journey im not prepared to splash out that much.
Going to order a single specimen as I've found some for 9 a piece, that's the biggest gamble I'm prepared to take at this point.
Seeds would be preferable but I'll be happy with one little plant.
