| Hi all, I have been hunting around these past few weeks for some new lopho's to add to my ever growing collection and I stumbled across a local bloke who was willing to part with some of his. I have been offered a number of plants 6-8cm in diameter and 15-18 years old. They look fantastic but I'm not sure about the price. He is asking between $275 and $325 per plant depending on age and size.
Is this a reasonable price or am I going to loose out?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

| Thanks jeff. I thought it was a pretty high price but they are all seed grown. So I guess the years of growth influences the price a little. | |

| That's a lot of money for Lophs of that size. I wouldn't be paying that....
If they were Ario's or something maybe, but Lophs aren't that hard to grow and not nearly as slow. 6-8 cm isn't a very big plant by any means and unless they were clumps or particularly awesome specimens, I wouldn't be paying that sort of money for them - maybe $100-150 at a stretch. Have you got pics ?
All the Loph hype and prices on Ebay are pretty undeserved and just driven up by the ethnobotany crowd...
In the end though, anything is only worth what you're willing to pay for it....So if Lophs are your thing and the plants impress, maybe that's their worth ?

| I agree navajoa. Its worth is decided by the person wanting it. They are quite nice but I have been paying a lot for the relativity small number I have. | |

| I personally wouldn't pay $325 for any of those, but that might be just me. To my eye, 6 looks the better of them and I suppose if I were a real Loph fan, I might part with $250 -300 for it. | |
