| When I first clicked on it I only saw the top of the ad - 'Cactus collection for sale - $10'. But even at 10$ per plant it looks like there's some real bargains there. There's some boomers among them.

| I've seen this ad on gumtree before, but your post reminded me of it. Thank you. I've just returned from visiting the gentleman who's selling the plants & have purchased/added to my modest cacti collection, some marvellous plants/cacti at a very generous price & a few lovely freebies were given too. Some need id, so I'll post pics up soon for your help, please. Thank you. | |

| Yep, I think so, although I can't really tell you what they are. When I went there today, he said that some plants had already been sold & I did notice empty spaces/gaps in the garden where plants/pots had been. After saying that though, there's still many beautiful plants (cacti & succulents) still left for sale, in particular taller/larger plants in the ground. I've posted a list of plants that I purchased, which also need help with id at http://forum.auscactiforum.net/t1556-mystery-cacti-succulents-please-help-id#14977. Thanks! | |

| Wow, that is a lovely collection why would you be wanting to sell, when it would have taken a long time to collect all, and all so well repersented. | |

| Joe has been selling on ebay for at least a year or so that I know of so a lot of the cacti would have been propagated for that reason plus he obviously has an extensive collection of mature plants
A lot of the growers with large collections are getting a bit to old to look after them. I am not saying that it is the case with Joe but over the years I have seen this happen with a couple of older guys.
The sad thing is what happens to there collections if the pass away. Some of might remember Mike from WA. He passed away in the last year or so. I believe a lot of the potted plants went to his sons house but I do wonder about the plants that were in the ground as the house was up for sale.
Cheers Midlife

| He's not getting rid of his collection. He propagates and sells lots of cacti & succulents. I have gotten many great plants from him over the last couple of years. I actually found him by accident, one day when I was driving to Hamilton's World of Cacti. | |

| So it's acctually more of a sales nursery than a collection for sale then I guess. Might just look into heading out there if that's the case, about the same distance as it's to Hamiltons for me. | |

| Definitely not a collection for sale. He's been selling plants from his house for many years. He's even got a roadside plant sales stand and a sign that is often out that says "Plant Sale Today" (Which is out most days). Plus there's MANY plants there that are NOT for sale, just for own personal collection and / or propagation. He does have a lot of unusual and even rare plants, and most of them are at very good prices. | |

| Wife might just have to put the leash back on me then, tendto buy more plants than I really have room for! Went to get some potting mix at Flower Power and diatomite from Hamiltons today and came home with 4 new plants | |

| Nice! I was heading out to Hamilton's, but ended up using the cooler weather to haul over half a ton of sandstone home in my 4 wheel drive. Using it to make the wall in my garden (which does have cacti!). I'll be Hamilton's tomorrow. | |
