| Hello, This is Haroon Mughal from Lahore, Pakistan. This is my 1st post here although I've been lurking around for long. I have a small collection of cacti and succulents (lil above 400) and I'm into the hobby for the last 5 years or so. I have been fascinated by the tales of grafting seedling on Pereskioposis, the blame is mainly with the great growers on this forum. I got this plant after years of searching and I'm really looking forward to a great grafting season. But I'm not really sure if that's pereskiopsis .. Would be great if the species could also be identified. Thanks a lot in advance.

| Hello Haroon, Good of you to post. I can most definitely say that is pereskiopsis, I would recognize those annoying little spines anywhere. Good luck with the grafting!! Enjoy. | |

| Thanks a lot crypto. It has finally started to warm up a little after the winters. Just waiting for the min temperatures to go in double digits and I'll start cutting the plant into bits and pieces and get a bunch of cuttings rooted for grafting. | |

| Hi all,
Someone else on another forum has mentioned the possibility of this plant being "Quiabentia Zehntneri". I am a bit confused. Would really appreciate if this could be confirmed. Another thing, can Quiabentia Zehntneri (if it is that plant at all) be used for grafting?
Regards, Mughal | |

| Hi there i agree with crypto that is definitely pereskiopsis. I have never tried grafting onto Quiabentia Zehntneri but i am sure it should be OK, if i had it i would give it a go. | |

| I agree with everyone your plant is:
Pereskiopsis Spatulata, it is also
Quiabentia Zehntneri
As far as I am aware the two names a synonymous I.E they are the same plant with a different name.

| That's new for me HN. Actually that prompted me to do some research and I am surprised to know how closely these plants are related.
From desert-tropicals,
Pereskia zehntneri synonym of Quiabentia zehntneri Pereskia higuerana synonym of Pereskiopsis spathulata
From the images I have seen in the search results, the dark radial spines seem to be characteristic of Pereskiopsis spathulata. Anyway, I'm gonna give it a try and if the luck is by my side, will get good results with grafting.
Thanks for the efforts guys.
