An asterias cultiva Empty
PostSubject: An asterias cultiva   An asterias cultiva EmptyWed Feb 16, 2011 6:22 am

There is an asterias cultiva called Ruri Kabuto. When the plant was mature age, the body color turns to Ruri(lapis lazuli).
The plant seems asterias v nudum but the gene of capricorn v major is mixed.
I have several Ruri Kabuto but they are all still young.

I crossed large dots Super Kabuto on Ruri Kabuto to try making an asterias with less number of white dots on lapis lazuli body.
Seedlings show various denseness of white dots including complete nudum.
I did not graft because the denseness of white dots was affected by grafting.

As I mentioned in the post on 2nd March 2011, I have been trying to make an other astrias cultivar.
The cultivar may be called ruri-miracle kabuto.
I have 2 fruits in total currently, possiblly more than 100 seeds.

Mother plant: miracle kabuto, hooked red tape is the fruit.

Father plant: oibo ruri kabuto
This one is also used as the mother plant for ruri-super kabuto. Hooked gray tape is the fruit.

I like it ! I usually tie the flower up with a small piece of string and then put tape on that. What are you using here Hanazono, Is that a wire loop ? Do you just bend it around by hand ?

Can't wait to see the results.

Judging by the eye visible in the first pic I'd hazard a guess they are regular fishing hooks.

Hellonasty & SnowFella

SnowFella is correct. They are regular fishing hooks.
