Cactus, Succulent or Euphorbia?

Always wondered what it is the neighbours has growing up in a gumtree in their yard. Figured someone here might have an idea.

It looks like Hylocereus undatus to me good for grafting. I cant get over how well it seems to love growing in that tree i have seen many like this on my travels through QLD.

Hmmm...kinda makes you wonder how it got up there in the first place! Western suburbs of Sydney isn't exactly Queensland when it comes to climate and wild growing cactii.

From what I can see, tall colourbond fence in the way so I can't really see what's down on the ground, it seems to originate from a fork in the tree a good 5 or so meters up. Makes me wonder if it's a cactus that's naturally has germinated up there as that tree tends to be used by alot of cockatoos for nighttime nesting.

If you head down to Parramatta ferry wharf and look across to the other side of the river, you'll see a massive Hylocereus colony cascading down the rock face. Haven't worked out how to get cuttings in a way that doesn't involve falling to my death, however.

Well, whatever it is it's about to put on a display of flowers any day now. Can count atleast 6 large buds forming from my side of the fence. Going to keep an eye on this one over the coming nights untill it comes out fully, doubt I'll be able to get that good photos in the dark though.



Just wish it was closer to my side of the fence then I'd "steal" some cuttings of it.

In full bloom last night, unfortunately I couldn't capture any photos with the flowers fully open as the camera just couldn't handle the darkness from a distance. Counted 10 flowers, and got them all into one photo.
