I don't like echinofossulatus as a name, and it's older too. On the other hand, steno = narrow in greek, so stenocactus is a very appropriate name for this genus. I had 7 of them and I recently bought a steno crest plus some more, which were probably mis-IDed {I think my crest is supposed to be vaupelianus]. Like you said, they hybridise a lot, so sometimes they are mis-IDed or very hard to ID or more commonly they're sold unamed. I love them for this fact too, as I like to try to find out what genes are in each of them.

I love this genus as well, and my own are very different from your ones Ccook. Are these seed grown?

Great arios too

Yes these are seed grown i have many more i love the variation even in a group of seedlings there are many different ones. I think seed from these batches come from a hybrid somewere along the lines. I have plants from seed from steve brack and they seem to all be very close looking and close to descriptions will show pics later.

That crest myrtillo is cool! Did it crest on its own or was it from a cutting? I have one that is a bit wider, it is from a cutting. It started to rot so it put it on a tricho and it's doing fine.
This is one of my all time favorite plants. I think the called it the dinosaur back.
Needless to say the grafting knives will be out for this on come spring.
