| Hi all, I’m Jazz; I just joined and thought I may as well introduce myself. My friend Slim6y has started getting me interested in cacti - I stayed up until around 2am this morning looking at different types . That dictionary is great – so I want to have a crack at growing/collecting them (if anyone knows where I can get seeds from or any websites I can buy plants from send me a PM). A few of the cacti I liked from the dictionary are: Echinocereus schmollii, Mammillaria prolifera and Discocactus horstii. I am new to plants in general so I know nothing about anything really... you’ll all have to bare with any stupid questions I might ask! =] Erm some other stuff about me: My main interests include Body Modification (piercings, scarification, subdermal/transdermal implants, tattoo, tongue splitting etc), Reptiles, Guitar, Fantasy Novels, PC gaming and Music. I have 13 piercings all up (6x Ear, 3xlip, Tongue, septum and nipples). I'm in the middle of collecting pictures and ideas to take to a tattooist to draw up a custom design for my left calf (it will be fantasy themed). At the moment I have one reptile, she's a baby Atherton Python named Mesaana and on Friday or Saturday I'm going to go pick up a baby male Diamond Python which i'm calling Othion. So yeah, hopefully I can get some useful information from this website and meet some interesting people. | |

| Welcome Jazz - I think that your the first female, which is good. I don't have any piercings, and I'd hate to think about you going through the airport screening devices, but like everyone else on this site, am pretty fanatical about growing cacti.
I'll PM you with some welcome seeds (given I've just packed up Sli6Ys and have a spare ebvelope with seeds scattered across my table)
cheers, Calycium

| Welcome to the forum Metal Jazz. Good to see a new female member has joined up. Any questions you may have feel free to ask, that's what this place is for and we have some knowledgable characters here so far. I have a few tatts and piercings myself, but my main passion is cacti, especially rare and difficult to grow cacti. My next tattoo will feature some cacti I think lol now all I have to do is stop buying cacti and I might be able to save up to get it done. I have plants of Mammilaria prolifera if interested. Also got lots of others seeds and plants, getting a batch of seeds shortly. Not any of the others you mentioned, Discocactus horstii is rare, but don't let that discourage you. I will shoot you a PM about the Mamm and seeds shortly. I have so many snakes and lizards around my place I don't need to collect them. Had a brown tree snake stop for day in my greenhouse, which was...amusing. This pic was taken through the flyscreen on my front door. This huge Lace Monitor devoured a chicken carcass it scrounged from a garbage bag, it swallowed it in a few gulps. - Quote :

The last time I went through the airport I had no troubles at all, the detector didn't even beep. They don't set the detecters high enough to detect such little things as piercings. trigonus: You are so lucky! I wish I had those coming through my yard.

That's an awesome lacie dude! Really lucky to have that scavanging through your rubbish bin!
It's good to see you're a friend of our scaley allies. They're awesome animals and quite harmless if left alone!
Looking forward to the seeds - I have built my shade house specially (don't let MJ or Hornet tell you it's a shocking build - I'm proud of it!!)

I like the Monitors that one is huge about 1.5m maybe even 2m long, really old and gnarly, we have lots of smaller ones, plenty of diamond pythons, saw a huge one on christmas day. Saw lots of black snakes this year too, a few green tree snakes also some geckos and various skinks. The ones I don't like are the brown snakes, had a baby one living around my back step over summer and I nearly trod on it once.

| I strecthed my septum up to 10 gauge this morning. Freakin' hurt too! I agree facial piercings on females should be smaller. My ex had 8 gauge nipple piercings, she was a piercer by trade thouh lol | |

Mine are cute as they are, I can't imagine having a big 8 gauge in there.

| She was pretty into it though. She pierced her septum to 10 gauge in front of the mirror at home one night, I had to help. The tunnels in her ears were bigger than my thumb , though I have met people who can fit a fist through their earlobe lol I had 12 gauge nipple piercings but they never healed, even after 7 months, so I had to take them out. | |

| Haha yeah. I like body mods but on myself I like them to look as if they were meant to be there... I want my tongue split and my ears shaped, I want a few subtle subdermal implants on my chest and in my hands and full leg sleeves. Here's some retired piercings I had: Age 15 Age 16 Age 17 | |

| Ooooh you have a bridge? My ex did have one of those cleavage ones, but when she took it out it left a nasty scar. I like madison's, conch's and ear projects. | |

| Generally you take them out BEFORE it gets bad enough to leave a scar. As soon as it went red around the exit holes I knew it was time to take it out... I have no noticeable scar at all.
I'm going to get two microdermals in place where the balls originally were... less chance of rejection.
I am very sure about tongue splitting and ear shaping. I've wanted it for two years now and I can't see myself changing my mind by the time I get a chance to get it done.
