I have had a few of these for years now and they have finally put out soom flowers. Had been waiting to get an ID because I was never sure. Looks to be Echinocereus polycanthus var. densus or something similiar. Anyone know?

Yeah I really like the armed flower, a bit like beauty and the beast I reckon. I don't think the spines on the flower are too severe though. They are soft and flexible (mostly) Wink

Whoever correctly ID's it can have a cutting Smile

I'm not very good Echinocereus sp.
I have a couple but its a large genus ID one by eye if I needed to.
So juicy though... Pity. Rolling Eyes

Yeah I have visually ID'd it as Echinocereus polycanthus var. densus, was just hoping to confirm (or deny) that so I can put it in my database Smile

I love the claret cups Trig, I think I remember reading somewhere that v. densum has a relatively short floral tube, apart from that it looks pretty right... but then when it comes to these I'm a bit of a mug.
