Hey guys

Can't remember where I got him
Slow grower
That's bout it
I'm not sure what to make of him? He has not put on much growth at all in a long while, that has me stumped?
I don't think I got an id tag with this plant?  Think it's one I bought at a market at some point.

See what you guys think?

Are you sure it's a Trichocereus?

Looks a bit like Pilosocereus to me..

nope. im not sure what it is?
pilosocereus m8? how do you determine that? i havent come across any like this but havent reasearched or payed attention either so...

is there some sort of tell tale sign your using or?

honestly i thought it were tricho. just dark spined.
i didnt realize pilosocereus grew fatty ribs like this.

its slow growth is what made me question it.

cheers

Hey mate,

I'm not using any one thing in particular, just an educated opinion based on a number of factors. The spines and areoles are what tipped me away from Trichocereus.

I have just had another look, and I'm almost positive it is Stetsonia Coryne aka Tooth Pick Cactus (the spines resemble tooth picks)

That's look like a tricky one.

I'm leaning towards a long spine Trichocereus Peruvianus?

There are that many types/crosses of Trichocereus around these days,

I have a couple and are still not sure on as well.

i just came across a plant labeled as T. Peruvianus Matucana.
it looks remarkably similar to this. the spines arnt as dark on the new growth but they are quite dark nonetheless. and the brown furry look of the aerole is near identical....
found the pick on shroomery.

interesting. might have to take this one along to the show this year.

cheers.
