To be honest I'm not really sure, it came with a label saying "Copiapoa goldii hybrid" but I can't really find anything for C. goldii.
It's a biggish one though, for scale the pot is about 15cm in diameter.

thx cactuscook. that seems reasonable. i see also as syn. as lobivia and echinopsis formosa. flower is very good match. mine does seem a little less 'hairy' but then again where is a pic of the 'type'.

Actually I wasn't being serious - I was just reading what the tag said. It looks more like some sort of Copiapoa, but then again those are not my area of expertise either. Embarassed

Wrong flower for a Copiapoa though. Looks more Echinopsis like in my eyes.

Yeah SnowFella
I also think its not a copiapoa, they flower all yellow and from the apex as far as I know.
I tend more to an Echinopsis hybrid (X huascha????) but thats not 100%. scratch

It is definitely not a copiapoa.
I suspect a type of echinopsis i will have to do a little research though.

Eriosyce senilis:
It has several offsets which haven't grown this season but it produced two lovely flowers.

They are really awesome flowers. The colour is really vivid and the petals have a striped which you can vaguely see in the photos.

The way the petals fold open and splay is really cool too.

First gymno. baldianum flower opened for me today.
One of many.
I have two plants one of which has 14 buds and the other has 6 or so.

Give it a week and I'll give you many reasons why you bought it. Several flowers will be open by then. Plus today hasn't been so warm so the flower isn't open.
One of my plants now has 15 buds! and the other has 8.
Will be interesting to see whether they keep pushing but I doubt it because pretty much every areole around the apex is taken up.

That plant looks like a monster! Never seen so many offsets on the one plant. Has the main body stopped growing?

No the main body hasn't stoped growing? I am thinking maybe I should take the offsets off keep it a single plant! I am little worried about scarring it though.

I doubt it would leave any scarring. If it does it will only be minor. I find if you take the offsets off the main body grows larger/faster than if the pups were left on... I find that at least for succulents such as haworthias, gasteria, aloes, faucaria and echeveria.

About the scarring.... I find that on some types, especially lophs and astros, the base of the offset is often deep and or very wide... And on some gymnos too. So removing the offsets leaves pits or holes which look bad even when fully healed. And it seems the bigger the plant is to start, the worse the scarring is when you cut offsets.
