Millipedes... Empty
PostSubject: Millipedes...   Millipedes... EmptySun May 09, 2010 12:43 pm

G'day all...

Since we're starting to get a bit of rain, I'm starting to notice millipedes absolutely everywhere. I think I've largely banished them from the house (for now, at least...), however if I go outside after dark I can see hundreds of the little buggers swarming all over my garden bed.

Now, I've read that millipedes are detritivores, and hence eat mainly dead and decaying matter - so in theory at least will assist in keeping the garden beds tidy. However, will they hurt any of my existing plants?

Have had a lot around the past few years, but I can't say they've caused any damage or problems at all, just a bit of an annoyance more than anything I think...
It could be worse, they could be the size of these ones I saw in Texas.... Millipedes... Affraid

I'm starting to notice a few millipedes on my rescued scop... It almost looks like they are eating the damaged and flaking tissue. With a bit of luck, this might work like debridement therapy and clean the plant of dead matter, thereby helping to bring it back to health.
